This is what I use

The gear shown below is typically what I use when I’m outside. I find it works great for me, performs how I need it to, and at the end of the day…I just love using it.  It’s not for everyone. In fact, you need to figure out what works best for you.  But I definitely suggest some of this stuff…

Climbing outside, it’s what I love to do most.  It seems as though when i’m moving through the sequence of a route, my body just feels better. No matter the mood before or after; during–I simply just am.

Whether between competitions or during my “off season”, I try to spend as much time as possible climbing outside. Mixed climbing in the winter, or rock climbing in the summer, I still try to perform at my highest level, but also try to enjoy the original reasons to why I climb…because it’s fun.

There’s no need to rant on about what grades I’ve sent, etc., only that I’m really happy with some of the routes I’ve climbed-all over the world. Some, yes, have been at the upper end of “hard”…and some have been for the pure joy of it.  Easy or difficult…I love climbing.

Some of my favourite places to climb involve big caves and being upside down. There’s just something about that gymnastic, inverted, style of climbing that gets me totally fired up.  My goals with outside climbing are to explore, create, send, and of course to continue learning.
